Thandaza Cyril Nkabinde

Thandaza Cyril Nkabinde is a specialist family physician and an academic, who is passionate about seeing underserved communities uplifted, especially through the provision of educational opportunities and support. He has been a member of His Church since 2007 and has served as part of the Hope Nation subcommittee previously. He was appointed as the Hope Nation chairperson effective from January 2021.
Mondli Myeza
Director
Mondli was the Managing Director of Hope Nation between 2011 and 2016 and is a pastor at His Church, overseeing the New Germany campus. Mondli has a rich history in community development in South Africa. His heart is to see people’s lives transformed physically, emotionally and spiritually and he brings a grassroots perspective to the social and economic issues facing our community.
Simon Hemsley
Director
Simon has been a pastor at His Church since 2007 and joined the Hope Nation Board in 2016 when he took over as Senior Pastor of His Church. Simon is passionate about helping people from every generation to live with purpose and meaning in their lives. Simon has a visionary role within the organization
Nomfundo Ndumndum
Director
Nomfundo holds a Bachelor of Social Science degree and is an accomplished entrepreneur with extensive experience in marketing management and account relationship management. A mother of two, she currently serves as the Marketing Manager at a leading preparatory school in Kwa-Zulu Natal. Nomfundo is passionate about family, faith, and community, and joined the Hope Nation board in February 2025.
Gary Knight
Director
Gary is Managing Director of SCT Supply Chain Solutions (Pty) Ltd. By training, Gary has a master Degree in Ecology but has been in the shipping industry since 1993 during which has had held board positions in both private and corporate businesses until opening his own company in 2013. Gary joined the Hope Nation board in 2023.
Jacques Van Bommel
Director
Jacques Van Bommel is the CEO and founder of Reaching a Generation Ministries and lead pastor and founder of Celebration Church, Mokopane. Jacques has a wealth of knowledge in community development initiatives, as well as in the non-profit space. His life’s work has been in the pursuit of a better future for the Youth of South Africa, teaching biblical truths to thousands in schools around South Africa.
Anita Tappin
Director
Anita is responsible for the operational and financial management and overall administration of Hope Nation. Anita has 18 years of experience in project management and has been overseeing the finance and administration in His Church and Hope Nation since 2021.

Tarryn Govender
Operations Manager
Tarryn joined the Hope Nation team in 2022 and oversees the operation of the different projects run by Hope Nation. She has a degree in microbiology and biochemistry but has always had a passion for helping people in whatever way she can.
Mbali Ndumo
Project Manager: Education
Mbali started volunteering for Hope Nation in 2012 under the food parcel program. She has since then worked within our education and mentoring programs. She currently is dedicated to our education program, Owami Schools.
